OUR APPROACH TO SUSTAINABILITY

Our focus on sustainability starts from our company mission to help our customers increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions. More than 99% of our revenue and our R&D spend focus on emission-reducing and zero-emission technologies. Our sustainability framework relies on two main sustainability pillars: Investing in a culture of innovation and Operating responsibly. This framework, together with strong governance and thoughtful commitments, fuel our environment, social and governance objectives and accountability.

We are delivering differentiated solutions for more sustainable mobility and industrial applications. Our innovations combine the cutting-edge of mechanical, electrical and software technologies.

Our product portfolio is a key enabler for fuel economy, energy efficiency, compliance with emissions standards and overall greenhouse gas emission reduction. It also brings numerous other important benefits to customers such as higher performance, lower weight, smaller size, better thermal management, and easier packaging requirements.

We believe that continuous learning is essential for both personal growth and organizational success. Our wide range of global learning and development resources and programs provide knowledge and skills to meet individual needs. Whether it’s functional competencies, technical leadership or human skills, they are covered through a variety of resources and methods.

In 2024,

  • the total training hours were 86,200.
  • we introduced the Garrett Learning Hub, our innovative Learning Experience Platform designed to enhance employees’ continuous learning and growth.
  • 100% of employees received regular performance reviews.
  • we delivered more than 6,000 learning hours to around 600 employees on Zero-Emission Vehicle technologies.

Diversity and inclusion is one of our four main fundamentals. We embrace the diverse talents and backgrounds of our global employees and nurture an inclusive culture. Through our policies and programs, we strive to ensure that everyone feels involved, supported, respected, and connected, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, abilities and disabilities, or geographic region. We have 26 different nationalities represented in our senior management team alone, who bring different backgrounds and experiences.

In 2024,

  • our global workforce represent approximately 60 different nationalities.
  • we have 4 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) across Garrett’s three regions, driven by and for employees to foster an even more open and inclusive workplace: Women in Garrett (WING), Cultural Mosaic, Boost your Pride and Diverse Abilities.
  • over 3,500 participants joined more than 40 activities during our Diversity & Inclusion Week ‘Inclusion Starts with Us’

Creating excitement around science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is key to inspire the new generation of innovators. Garrett engages with students on many different levels including offering internship programs, sponsoring Formula Student university teams and local school projects. Our annual STEM Month is also an opportunity for Garrett employees to organize educational and fun STEM events, including hands-on workshops, competitions, webinars, plant tours, open doors, career fairs, and family days.

In 2024

  • 13 Garrett sites took an active part during STEM Month.
  • we sponsored six Formula Student teams and three Formula Student races where Garrett engineers discussed next generation technology with over 4,000 students
  • our team in India worked with local partners to establish six STEM labs, benefiting over 4,000 students. These labs enhance skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, technology, and entrepreneurship.

HOW WE OPERATE RESPONSIBLY

We drive a culture of excellence in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) throughout all processes and core functions at Garrett. Our primary goals are to provide safe working conditions,  prevent and mitigate potential risks and harm, and foster the long-term health and well-being of our colleagues.

In 2024,

  • 100% of our manufacturing sites are certified to ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), ISO 14001 (Environment Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management)
  • we completed 82 health and safety improvement projects
  • over 6,500 participants joined our annual HSE week, engaging on topics related to the importance of physical and mental health, safety, and environment responsibility.

We are on track towards achieving our Science-Based Target to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46.2% to 2030. We are driving improvements through a combination of energy efficiency projects, onsite renewable energy installations, selective procurement of renewable energy, and shifts in residual emissions factors. We continue to report on our Scope 3 emissions, which are estimates prepared by applying relevant GHG protocol methods.

In 2024,

  • we achieved a 7.9% reduction of GHG emissions (scope 1 and scope 2) in our own operations as compared to 2023 and we reached an overall decrease of 31.3% compared our baseline reporting year of 2019.

We constantly work to be more efficient and reduce energy consumption in our operations, by expanding the implementation of opportunities to reduce energy use, enhancing the energy efficiency of our operations, and refining our methods for measuring and overseeing energy performance.

In 2024,

  • we reduced our absolute energy usage by 3% compared to 2023
  • we reached a 20.5% decrease in energy consumption compared to our baseline year of 2019.
  • we implemented 29 investment projects, and 50 no-cost-low-cost initiatives to improve energy efficiency across our sites.

We continually monitor the effective use of resources and use waste management programs to identify and drive projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our operations.

In 2024,

  • we achieved a 17.5% reduction in total waste generated by our manufacturing sites, test laboratories and offices compared to 2023
  • 82.8% of the generated waste was sent for recycling
  • the total quantity of withdrawn water increased by 4.9% compared to 2023, but representing a 19.2% reduction against our baseline year of 2019.

Our corporate governance practices, internal policies, procedures and programs, as well as ‘Garrett’s Code of Business Conduct’ we strive to uphold high standards of business ethics, integrity and transparency, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

The Integrity Helpline is an essential part of our committment to integrity and compliance. Employees, as well as our business partners can report compliance concerns either directly or through the Garrett Integrity Helpline, which is managed by an independent contractor. Concerns reported through the Integrity Helpline can be anonymous.
